The Textiles of India Collection
|
1999 IIDA Acclaim Award Winner Textiles of India pays homage to vintage Indian fabrics. Taj Mahal's 7 colorways suggest wonderful vegetable-dyed cottons that have faded over time, in such aromatic colors as cinnamon, curry, anise and clove . The raised "floating" circles are contemporary abstractions of traditional Indian motifs, and complement the luxurious textural "solid" Kashmir. The latter's complex weave blends three distinct yarn textures: smooth warp contrasting with lustrous ratinée and soft chenille weft, creating a lively play of color and light. Both patterns' apparent fragility is deceptive, as they are constructed for the most demanding use. |
