Our Workplace

Since 1995 we have occupied the 9th floor of an old printing building in New York’s historic Soho district. Our warehouse, design studio and customer service department share the 10,000 square foot space, and we work together without walls separating the areas; only low partitions create a presentation/meeting room and design storage space.

I like to mix a few of my favorite items throughout the space. The dried bamboo and teasel stalks came from my mother’s Seattle garden. Teasel, it turns out has a prickly seedpod that historically been used to brush woolens for a softer, napped finish. How appropriate, then, that it stands next to our fabrics’ warehouse shelves.

The entire 'gallery' space is constantly in use. Here, fabrics are readied for hand cutting of presentation samples, while blanket trials await review in the 'gallery.'
