The Reveal Collection is the result of collaboration between furniture designer Mark Goetz, visual communication designer May Liu and the Momentum Textiles Design Studio. Reveal was created as a MBDC Gold certified collection that reflected the designers’ shared passion for modern aesthetic and the environment at large. Throughout their collaboration, Goetz, Liu and the Momentum Textiles Design Studio uncovered overlapping themes common to the three very different professional design disciplines. The process began as a dialog bridging the three-dimensional insight of Goetz with the two-dimensional sensibility of Liu. The designers addressed the energy inherent to spatial relationships, the importance of depth and substance and how dimensional elements define spatial qualities. They also attended to the relationship between bold two-dimensional forms, three-dimensional perception and the presence of negative space. Reconciling second and third dimension sensibilities with innovative textile weaves and constructions, Momentum Textiles Design Studio help transform Goetz and Liu’s designs into textile patterns with a visual pulse.

Goetz emphasizes, “We try to give things a reserved, quiet expression so they’re appropriate in a variety of environments, but we also try to make interesting forms that people really like – something fresh and new.” The three resulting patterns explore line, shape and form through graphic motifs that mingle linear movement and diagonal rhythm.

The designers’ vision yielded a collection of sustainable textiles utilizing the next generation Eco-Intelligent® Polyester (EIP) yarn. This C2C MBDC Gold certified spun recycled polyester is the first of its kind. Allowing for complicated weave constructions, distinctive color work and soft, natural hand, this new yarn-type is also 100% Antimony free and the only polyester to retain its original quality indefinitely for subsequent product generations when recycled. The three new patterns composing the Reveal Collection are Gesture, Matter and X-Factor.

Mark Goetz thinks about furniture in ways that most of us do not. In his 20-year design career, he has been responsible for numerous collections of seating and furniture pieces with a classic, modern appeal.

Since the inception of his firm – TZDesign – Mark has collaborated with several companies to produce a number of noteworthy projects. At Brickel Associates, he introduced a series of lounge and guest seating that is currently offered through Geiger International.

With Bernhardt Design, Mark created a line of enduring furniture. He conceived and developed an extensive collection of chairs, case goods, lounge chairs and occasional tables for multiple applications. In a period of 15 years, he has realized more than 70 chair designs for Bernhardt. He exhibits a range of style and uses a variety of materials from metal and glass to wood and upholstery. Mark is known for a high level of design integrity and has established a significant presence in the industry that continues to stand out in the current Bernhardt Design offering.

Herman Miller invited Mark to design a sofa for their Home division. The goal was to create an innovative piece that would complement the work of great designers Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and Isamu Noguchi. The Goetz Sofa is a design of beauty, comfort and functionality.
